“The Box”
The 'story' begins with an old box marked 'Grandad's Stuff'
Inside are an assortment of objects ...
... which includes a sketchbook in a tied bundle.
Under the sketchbook is a newspaper clipping explaining what happened to Hogarth's unit and how he came to be wounded.
Next are found two letters.
And beneath the letters a folded pamphlet and a battered field manual.
and, finally, at the bottom of the box is a self portrait, the human face of the protagonist of this story.
