Pet Portraits

"Since my days as an animator I have loved drawing and painting animals. From the initial loose, fluid sketches as I study the form, to the layering of tone, colour and texture as I search for a likeness, I find the attempt to capture the personality of a unique animal a wonderful challenge. I particularly enjoy the subject of animals in motion.“  Steven Buckler

”I love my drawing of Myrtle so much! So uniquely beautiful and unlike any other pet portraits I've seen before."

 Kezia Barr

"Being fans of Steven’s landscape work we asked him to paint our dog Melda because we wanted a pet portrait that wasn’t overly sentimentalised. Melda is getting on in years and the painting will be a wonderful memory of her. The painting beautifully reflects Melda’s personality and we treasure it."

Andrea & Matt

“ I love it! You really have captured the mischievous glint in her eyes. And the style really makes it feel contemporary and not an overly sentimental or stuffy pet portrait, which is exactly why we wanted you to do It."

Mair Williams
